The First Autumn

Sleep is good.

The Rose Wall shines in
to the day

Sleep is good again.

I wonder how
my
friends are, and where, I hope

they're happy and all that. I
hope again.

It's taken a long time, but I still

don't want to do anything.

And today the guitars are soft

          through the broken window, and
          I
remember the first autumn we all took off on our own

The gathering of Christians
in the evening, the soft
lawn, the warm
evening, and Jay
screaming Fuck Jesus
through the car window

beginning our lives
and all of time
